Ruta’s Closet Gallery – A visual history

This is the home for photographs and videos visually telling the story of Ruta’s Closet, the Lithuanian Holocaust and particularly the events witnessed in the Lithuanian town of Shavl (Siauliai). It will be updated when new photographic material is acquired and check back for the creation of special theme displays.

Shavel Jewish Kindergarten class of 1940: Only three reamin alive today the rest were executed by the Nazis. Two of the survivors fled to Siberia before the Germans arrived and Ruth Kron Sigal (three from the left, second row down) was hidden and now lives in Vancouver.
